We went to a Buddhist temple today called Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery. It was a bit of a hike, but it was beautiful and the statues along the way were really unique and interesting.
When we were in the actual temple with approximately 13,000 Buddhas, we reminded the kids that this is a sacred space for people and that they needed to be respectful and reverent. Calvin and Nora have been to many Buddhist, Taoist and other religious temples, so they know how to show respect in these sacred places. I'm always very proud of their behavior and grateful that they are learning about other faiths.
Calvin is clearly learning a lot about Buddhism because as we were getting ready to leave he turns to the largest Buddha statues, places his hands together and bows three times in quick succession, just like the Buddhist worshipers in the temple. Richard and I had to stifle a giggle at his sweet behavior. And then we decided that it might be time to plan a trip to the LDS Temple in Hong Kong :).
