During the month of July, we experienced a Typhoon Level 10. The Hong Kong Observatory issues bad weather warnings, especially when their is a typhoon in the area. There are 5 levels of warnings that can be issued. Levels 1, 3, 8, 9, and 10. Nora's preschool was cancelled when we got to a Typhoon Level 3. At Typhoon Level 8, all schools are closed, businesses shut down and Richard doesn't have to go to work. Typhoon level 10 means that there is a hurricane in the area. The last Typhoon Level 10 was in 1999, but we got one this summer!
It actually was only a level 10 for a few hours overnight, but I was grateful that we don't live on the mountains and we are only on the 7th floor. It was VERY windy and noisy. Our friends who live in the New Territories had broken windows, but thankfully that was the worst of it. The aftermath of the storm was amazing. There were trees down everywhere. It was a lot of work for the sanitation department here. It took them over a week to get all the trees cleared from the area.
After the Typhoon Level 10 was downgraded to a Level 8, we had to get out of the house. It was time to go for a walk. The rain stopped for a bit, and out we went. Naturally, as soon as we got outside...it began to pour buckets. We just had to stop and play. Until our socks were soaked!

Oh man! Glad you survived! In the Philippines, the smell aftermath was often the worst part.
I wondered how strong that storm was as it went through Hong Kong. But you made the best of it playing in the rain.
