Field Trip Friday

Nora had a field trip this morning.  I was able to go with the kids and help supervise.  It was a ton of fun!

The kids had to take public transportation to a nearby park (Victoria Park).  The kids had to lead the way and get us there by themselves.

After we got to the park, each group split up into two and had two different tasks.  One group interviewed people in the park to find out what what they were doing in the park, how they got there and how long it took them.

The other group had to tally up the different types of vehicles they saw.  That is what Nora and Swati are doing in the picture above.

The kids were so sweet and worked very hard.  It was fun to meet more of Nora's friends and see her interact with them.

I was also happy to meet more of the parents of the kids.  We have a great little school community.

After the kids completed their tasks, they ate their snack and got to play at the park for a while.

We then waited for the bus to come and pick us up.  The bus was running late and we had to keep the 60 kids contained on a busy street for about 20 minutes.  That was a little bit stressful, but the kids really did great.  I was really happy to get the chance to help out in Nora's class.

Great educational activity -- experiential learning! Now let her do the same thing outside your apartment. That could keep the whole family busy.

Don't let her feel too competent or she might feel she can take off on her own. However, learning at a young age to know where you are going and being responsible for getting there is excellent training.
